Adjective Review in a Foreign Language Classroom

Bonnie Campbell When students entered the classroom they took a large index card that had an adjective written on it.  The students had to think of a noun that could be described by their adjective.  It could be a person or a thing or even a classmate. If they chose a classmate (example:  athletic was given to a boy who plays 3 sports) they were to give their adjective to that person to hold. Others were asked to go to the whiteboard and hang their card with a magnet and next to it write a noun in French that the adjective describes.

When done the students holding cards went up by the board while the rest of us stood back.  We read and translated all the adjectives and nouns.  It was a fun activity. Some kids were very original which brought a lot of laughs to the classroom. (For example, the word "hot" was followed by the name of one of our male teachers)  It was a good way to review the vocabulary that we were learning in a different way and the kids enjoyed being out of their seats for a few minutes.  This activity took less than 10 minutes.
