This activity is designed to take 5-10 minutes daily to develop or review vocabulary words, without paper! Create vocabulary cards for a new unit/review (one card for word, one for the definition).
Day one
Randomly pass out all of the cards. They will most likely be words that the students will not know. They can look them up in the book and find their match.
Days 2-3
At the beginning (or end) of class, students must find their match. This time, without the help of a book.
Day 4
Only the vocabulary words are passed out. Students must provide ONE WORD (maybe a synonym) that reminds them of their word.
Day 5-?
Students match their words/definitions with each other again, taking much less time. This can continue until it is time for a quiz/evaluation.
Students seem to like the fact that this format has a game-like atmosphere to it and they do not have to write all of the words/definitions in their notebooks. They seem to associate the words/meanings faster!
