My afternoon class is right after lunch and the kids come into class trying to complete all of their lunchroom conversations. They are not at all ready to focus and listen to a lesson.
I set my timer for two minutes. I tell them that they have two minutes to tell everyone what they need to share and then the remaining 40 minutes are mine.
By the third day...they cannot even figure out how to fill the time. They become more worried about watching the clock.
This is an easy way to start the lesson/class on my terms. |
