At the end of the year, my English classes choose their top ten writing pieces (they keep a folder in my room of everything they write throughout the year) and post them on a website.
They create three different pages for at least three different types of writing. For example, a poetry page, a story page, and an essay page. Multiple pages can be added (a reflection page, an about me page, etc.)
When I give this assignment, I always have students coming in to work on it during their lunch and studyhalls. Many students actually worked on it for HOURS outside of class too!
There are many sites that offer free server space (www.freeservers.com and www.webs.com) and your district may provide the opportunity as well.
