I have large classes and thank god I have a large carpeted classroom! During the stress unit I teach, the kids love when I get them on the floor (some classes up to 31 kids on the floor), lying down.
I walk them through a mental imagery exercise where they use their mind and focus their breathing to treat themselves to "relax".
Kids need to find the mind-body connection and learn to relieve depresion, anger, and even stresses they have throughout their high school careers.
I get great feedback from this! This is also a trust building activity and could be done sitting on the floor or in a chair. |
